Forever Friday is finally in the water in Kentucky!
No time in a boatyard is fun. Period. Add that you came from 2000 miles away, and are used to things getting done on California time (our boatyard in Newport Beach is so damn efficient), you can expect that the experience likely won’t be grand. It wasn’t. Our boat was left in the boat sling over the weekend (which pretty much is a no no, but if you HAVE to do it, you block the boat so she doesn’t swing in the inevitable thunderstorms in Kentucky in August.)
Monday afternoon, when our girl was finally put on blocks, Mike and I noticed damage to our hull that was clearly resultant from the hydrohoist lift straps.
Needless to say, I was PISSED. (For those who know Mike, he waxes the shit out of our hull and keeps her so pristine) I tried really hard to keep my Zen. Got a call Tuesday morning from the boatyard with a promise to make things right. And, to get us splashed Wednesday morning. Mike and I swallowed our bitterness. I got a call from the boatyard manager Wednesday morning that we were scheduled to splash at 10:30 or 11:00am. Mike and I got to the boatyard at 10:30. Our thruster blades were not in, zincs not attached, and block points not yet painted. We clearly weren’t getting splashed that morning. Mike began waxing the hull (God love him). Shortly before 1:00, a thunderstorm came through. So, we got splashed around 3:30. Yay!
In the midst of the boatyard fiasco, our new dinghy and outboard were delivered on Tuesday! Super stoked to get this, our first center-console. We went out for a pre-sunset trip and had a blast. Believe the dink will be perfect for this trip!
So, yesterday and today, we have worked like slaves putting the boat back together. Got much of the saloon done yesterday. Today, re-bedded the upper rails and mast. Tomorrow, will get the radar out of the stateroom. Will have her ship-shape as we are hosting happy hour.
Failed to note, we hosted a lovely happy hour Monday with Kevin, Mary and Julie from Mombo. They are doing the Loop out of St. Augustine, FL. Hoping to rendezvous with them in the Bahamas in February. All work and no play is not part of our repertoire. More to come. Cheers!

So glad you are finally in the water! Love you.
Dingy looks great. FF looks better in the water. When are you shoving off? Please keep the blog going. We are enjoying it.
Love you both

Soon, Betty…Soon!
I love you kids and have you in my thoughts and prayers on your trip. I think of it as much more than a trip and I can’t wait to tag along in your blog. 💕
Thanks so much, Christy! So glad you will be along for the ride!
Hi there! I’ve just started reading your posts… you have a beautiful boat. I’m not positive, but it sounds like you had your boat shipped from the West Coast, California? Just out of curiosity, what did that cost? What was your experience ?
Hi Gwen! Thanks for following us. Shipping with Associated Boat Transport (the usual carrier for TOMCO, the builder of our boat) was just south of $14k–which included extra insurance that we wanted on her. FF was shipped from Newport Harbor, CA.
Cheers, M&M
