We hung out in Sunrise Bay anchorage for a bit. Great anchorage with easy access to shore. Met lots of great people, and had some wonderful sunsets.

Sunrise Bay

We had one last East coast rendezvous with Kent, Heather and Penny of Heartbeat before they were taking off for the Bahamas. We dinghied over to the park and walked to the bar there for a beer. As we walked back to our dinghies, we were treated to a fabulous sunset.

Heartbeat and Forever Friday. Likely the last time our boats will be at anchor together after dozens of anchorages throughout the states, Canada and The Bahamas.

Did a Bon Voyage pizza on FF with Kent and Heather. They are the first couple we met on the Great Loop and have become great friends. We look forward to rendezvousing with them in the future.

The next day, Mike and I took the dinghy down to Bahia Mar to fill up the gas tank. Saw some incredible big ships there.

The following day, we went back up to Lighthouse Point Yacht Club. Mike had to fly to Oregon to go see his dad, so I was solo on the boat for a week. On our way up, we saw an absolutely stunning boat.

MY Nadan, 151 foot Burger. My dream boat.

We had seen her underway before. She is absolutely stunning. She had a for sale sign on her bow. You can have her for a cool $28,200,000.00. Check her out:

Had an uneventful week on the boat while Mike was away. Got a lot of chores done, went to the gym everyday (which was brutal as I hadn’t been in forever), and hung out with the yacht club people who were delightful. The club is in a beautiful neighborhood which made for pretty nights.

On Thursday, Leslie & Parker from Scaliwag joined me at the yacht club! Had not seen them since Tarpon Springs last November. Parker bought a bottle of Crystal at the bar to celebrate. Yay me! Had a fabulous dinner, then called an Uber and hit a local casino. I love to gamble. Parker might like to gamble even more than I. Suffice it to say, we didn’t get back to our respective boats until almost 5:00am. Seminole Casino 1 – Mary 0.

Parker & Leslie. This is around 4:00am.

Saturday, I had to pick up Mike from the airport. Rented a car and made the 3 & 1/2 hour drive to Orlando. His plane didn’t come in until almost midnight, so we stayed over and drove back Sunday. Hung out at the Tiki Bar with Parker our last night at the yacht club.

Monday we all took off back down to Fort Lauderdale. Parker & Leslie are awaiting a weather window to the Bahamas, and Mike and I are going to head north to Cocoa. As is the case in South Florida, had a litany of weather. One day in particular was stunning at the beach.

So, Leslie is an incredible baker. I mean, a really, really good baker. She made us Chess Pie and blueberry muffins. We love Leslie. A lot.

The best blueberry muffins in the world. Not exaggerating either.

One day, Leslie and I walked to Public to do a pretty big provision. Mike was going to meet us at a dinghy dock a couple blocks away. We got all our stuff into one cart and began to walk the cart toward the dock. We planned to unload our loot and walk the cart back. Apparently in Florida, it is against the law to take a cart out of the parking lot where it belongs.

I didn’t see the sign, but the front wheels locked up and a claw covered one of the rear ones.

Leslie & I called an Uber and got dropped off at the dinghy dock across from our anchorage where we waited for Mike for a long time. Mike finally came, advising us he was pulled over by the police for going too fast in the dinghy! He told the police officer the story about the cart. She advised him taking those, even with the intent to immediately return, is an arrestable offense. We were all pretty much lawbreakers that day.

Last Friday, we took off from Sunrise Bay and bid adieu to Scaliwag. Leslie and Parker, too, have become great friends, and we will miss them until next time.

Did about a 44 mile run north to Fort Worth. Beautiful neighborhoods, a LOT of bridges, and some interesting homes along this route.

A house just isn’t really a home without a huge gorilla statue out front.

We were going to spend the weekend in Lake Worth, but were not really into the anchorage, so picked up the anchor Saturday morning. This goes against our mantra of No Boating in South Florida on Weekends, but we did it! Had a lovely 50 plus mile day to Faber Cove in Fort Pierce. We anchored here last year when we returned from the Bahamas. Yesterday, we took the dinghy to the city dock and walked around. Cool town.

Our anchor neighbors told us of a bistro that has Rolling Rock on draft for $1.50 all day. We got in on some of that action, and had a great lunch to boot.

Took off this morning around 10:00 and went ~51 miles to the mouth of the Banana River. Charming area where we were greeted by a bunch of dolphins. A man kayaked past us and welcomed us to the neighborhood. He took a picture of our boat, and invited us to use his dock to go ashore. Love meeting people like this!

The sun just set. Going to make dinner and read. We are headed to Cocoa Village where our son Daniel and his girlfriend are coming to visit on Thursday. Super excited to see them!

sunset tonight

Hope everyone has a wonderful week. Cheers. M&M
